The four warriors retired after a nights worth of feasting and dancing. And drinking. They opened the double doors to a large suite. Couches, tapestries, and two large four-poster beds on each end of the gigantic high ceiling’d room. The girl collapsed onto the floor.
“Owie” she moaned into the hand-woven rug.
“Oh get up ‘Ren and help me drag Sei here into bed” The silver haired one motioned to the redhead leaning heavily on his shoulder.
“Those girls” he slurred, “Dance th’ death outta me” Airen sighed and pulled herself up.
“Yer not makin’ sense Sei, come on. To bed with ye” She took his arm around her shoulder and led him one of the beds. The silver haired one sunk into a plush couch, the brown haired one into a wide seat.
“I swear, those people are more exhausting then fighting in the damned war,” The silver haired one said.
“Kai, hold your tongue. Gossips might still be lurking about” The brunette said.
“Tristian you know it’s true” Airen said from the bed before yelping because a drunken Sei pulled her down onto the pillows. Kai and Tristian watched the struggle with muted interest. Airen would either end up throwing him off, or Sei would pass out because of the alcohol, happened all the time. They went back to talking.
“I thought the food was better than last time”
“That’s because they got a new cook, didn’t you see him?”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I heard the King got rid of the old one when he found out food he had eaten was two days old, just reheated in an old brick oven,” There was a thump and a moan and a muttering of ‘serves-you-right’ and Airen came over to sit with them. Kai continued, “It surprised me he wasn’t sent to the dungeon or had his head cut off or something more like a punishment”
“Well, you have to remember this is King Ehlanir, not the cruel hated kings we deal with in our border disputes” Tristian remarked. He was the oldest of the four, Sei coming in a close second, and he was the most mature of them, and usually the most level headed. His half brother Sei however, couldn’t be happier in life if you let him eat, fight, get drunk, and get a girl. Not necessarily in that order. Sei was peacefully snoring away, and Kai had settled down on the other bed, stripping off his boots and traveling wear. Just in breeches and a shirt, he slipped underneath the covers. Tristian and Airen had also stripped down, and now were pecking at a platter of fruit that was left on the table for them.
“It’s good to be back in the castle again, isn’t it ‘Ren?”
“I guess. Everyone seems to be doing well”
“Yes. They do, although your princess and her mother weren’t there this evening” He ribbed lightly, making the girl blush. Airen ate another grape hastily.
“She and her mom went on a diplomatic trip yesterday. She isn’t ‘mine’ so shut up”
“But you’re her-“
“Good NIGHT Tristian” Airen cut off the conversation by pulling her cloak around her body to sleep. Tristian smiled. He leaned over her and kissed her forehead. He slipped into bed with Kai, falling fast asleep.
